ব্যাখ্যা
Correct Answer: (C) would not have missed
This is a Type 3 Conditional sentence (Unreal Past Condition), which is very frequently tested in NTRCA exams.
Type 3 Conditional Structure:
If + Subject + had + past participle → Subject + would have + past participle
(Unreal condition about the PAST — something that did NOT happen)
Application:
"Had you walked fast, you would not have missed the train."
— "Had you walked fast" = If you had walked fast (but you didn't — unreal past)
— "would not have missed" = the result that would have occurred (but didn't)
Note on "Had you walked fast...":
— This is an inverted conditional (literary form)
— "Had you walked fast" = "If you had walked fast" (inversion replaces "if")
— Common in formal and literary English
Why others are wrong:
✗ "will not miss" — present/future; wrong for past unreal condition
✗ "will not have missed" — future perfect; wrong tense
✗ "would not miss" — Type 2 result (unreal present), not Type 3 (unreal past)
Conditionals Summary:
— Type 2: If + past simple → would + base verb
— Type 3: If + past perfect → would + have + past participle
